Coach Josh Floyd is entering his 11th season at Hewitt-Trussville. The Huskies have the 5th highest winning percentage in the state’s largest classification during that time. In 2023, Floyd was named the Alabama Football Coaches Association 7A Head Coach of the Year. The Huskies have been nationally ranked in the Top 100 every year since 2017. Since 2015, the Huskies have had 66 players sign college scholarships and 55 players have made the 7A All-State Team. The Huskies went a perfect 10-0 during the 2016 and 2017 regular seasons while winning region championships, becoming the first team in school history to go undefeated in the regular season.
Coach Floyd has represented Hewitt-Trussville High School two of the last five years coaching in the Under Armour All America Game. During Coach Floyd’s tenure at Hewitt-Trussville, the Huskies have had multiple players set 7A state records, as well as an AHSAA record for Total Offense Yards per game in a season. The Huskies are 82-35 since 2014.
Before coming to Hewitt-Trussville, Floyd led Shiloh Christian High School in Springdale, Arkansas to four state championships and one state runner-up finish. Floyd played college football at Ouachita Baptist University. Before that, he set two national records as a quarterback at Shiloh Christian High School, leading them to the school’s first state championship.
Floyd has a career record of 181-64-1, winning 4 state championships, 8 region championships and 1 state runner-up finish in 20 seasons. He has been married to his wife, Kate, for 21 years and they have 3 sons – Peyton (19), Parker (17) and Jack (14).
